All drawings produced at BDC will be created via a 3D BIM model and exported as a slice through the 3D model at the required location.

A free 3D BIM model will be made available to accompany all drawings in dwg, dgn or 3d PDF formats

Building Information Modelling (BIM) is a well established method of producing site construction drawings. As BIM models are used both before (design stage) and after (facilities management) construction, the production of an accurate 3D solid model is vital. At BDC, we build BIM models for all our projects, with this being used as a central database from which Structural analysis and 3D reinforcement models are produced. This avoids double data entry, saving time and reducing errors and discrepancies.

We have invested in several software packages which we can use to either read or create 3D BIM models, including Nemetschek Allplan, TEKLA Structures, and SCIA Engineer. These exchange data using IFC and similar common data file types so we can easily interact and share data with the project team. We can also import and export to packages such as REVIT and ARCHICAD. 3D modelling aids delivery of as many plans, sections, elevations and details as required, usually driven by building complexity.
